    Default Starting to panic!

This morning I followed the ipod Touch Jailbreak instructions and it was going along nicely until number 12. The final step.

I entered the 'putfile' instructions into the Terminal:

    putfile iphonefs/rdisk0s1.dmg /dev/rdisk0s1

and waited for something to happen. After 5 minutes with nothing I assumed it had finished doing what it should have and the next instruction was to reboot which I then tried. The ipod Touch hung at the start with the apple screen and the terminal then said:

putfile: Failed to open remote file: 11

I presume because I had rebooted before it had finished doing its thing.

Now I have an ITouch which is stuck with an Apple logo on it but wont start up. I have tried to reboot holding both on/off and home buttons and the same thing happens. The apple logo appears, after a few minutes the circular logo appears over the top of that but doesnt go around like it is starting, then about 5 minutes later it restarts and repeats.

    Have I now got a 200 paperweight?

    Can anyone help?

Ok I tried to put it into restore mode. iTunes started up but then gave an error '1601 unable to restore' message.

Then you got a paper weight.
And a thin, light one too.

    Just keep on trying.

Ok its sorted. I looked up the error code and it suggested restarting my mac and trying the restore again which worked...panic over thanks for your reply.

Hi, I resolved it almost by accident.

I read a post elsewhere that suggested restarting your mac if iTunes didnt recognise your Touch. As soon as it rebooted, it recognised my Touch and I was able to get it back much to my relief. I immediately went through the process of Jailbreaking again and it makes a world of difference to an already excellent gadget.

    Hope this helps.
