[Warranty] Regaining warranty on Jailbroken iTouch

I'm about to (hopefully) get a new 16 gigabyte iTouch for my birthday coming up soon.

I was wondering, if i jailbreak my iTouch (and i most likely am going to) and something goes wrong or the hard/software just completely bombs, is there any possible way to restore it without leaving any traces of the jailbreak? And could it trick Apple into honoring the warranty?

I had a jailbreak go awry and erase the wi-fi tables rendering my iPod Touch rather useless (no wi-fi, obviously). After restoring it in iTunes and sending in to Apple I received a new iPod a few days later. Perhaps I was lucky and they didn't really look into the issue, or perhaps the restoration hid any traces of the jailbreak. YMMV.
