[2.0] Upgrade and jailbreak problems

Hello everybody,

I found a firmware jailbreaked 2.0 for iPod Touch, good here that I searched I did not find it. If I use PWNAGE 2.0.1 on Leopard, at the last stage when I must enter my iPod in mode DFU, that is it starts too fast or he starts too late !
In brief, I succeed not in installing install and Cydia! Can you would like that to find him a firmware already containing cydia and install?

Bref, j'arrive pas à installer install et Cydia ! Pouvez-vous m'aider à trouver un firmware contenant déjà cydia et install ?

I believe I am having the same problem if I understand you fully. I have jailbroken my ipod touch to 2.0 firmware using pwnage 2.0.1 twice. Both times Cydia did not install. I've built 2 different ipsw files, both times using expert mode. The first time I added only the OpenSSH package to Cydia settings. The second time I added the OpenSSH package, as well as the Cydia installer and Cydia Source Set packages. Cydia Installer is checked under the "Custom packages settings". Both times after the jailbreak completes, Cydia is not installed for some reason. Also there are no Custom logo's showing up (and they aren't disabled in pwnage). The logo's are not a big deal, but I don't know if it's related so I thought I would mention it.

I have successfully jailbroken and unlocked my first gen iphone to 2.0, so I am at least somewhat confident that I am not doing anything obviously wrong. Any clue what I can do to get Cydia installed on my ipod touch?

p.s. I'm not trying to hijack your thread pattes, but I wasn't sure if you were having the same problem as me or not. Does this describe your problem?

For anyone having the same problem I was having, I figured out how to get Cydia installed. I used Pwnage 2.0 instead of 2.0.1 and Cydia installed properly. I had never tried 2.0. Oops.

Sorry if it appears that I am hijacking this thread, as a new user, I can't seem to start my own. I searched for the problem that I am experiencing and found no results of similar issues, if there were postings on it, just link me to the thread and accept my apologies.

Here is the issue. I was helping a friend to jailbreak his ipod touchs. One was a 16GB running 1.1.4, we decided to just jailbreak that one and leave it on 1.1.4 and everything went as planned.

Second ipod touch was a 32Gb model. We upgraded it to official 1.2.0. Worked great on the official ipod software. We made sure to get the correct ipsw before we started. Used pwnage 2.0.1 to create the custom ipod software. Entered DFU mode, option clicked restore and chose the custom software ipsw. Pineapple showed up on the itouch like was expected. itunes went through the motions and eventually said that the software had been restored and to leave the ipod connected for 10 seconds. After the 10 seconds, the ipod reboots, but never gets to the slide to unlock screen. Instead it goes into perpetual reboots. Currently have it back to official 1.2.0. Any ideas what may have caused this issue and how to fix it? Maybe pwnage created a buggy ipsw? Any insight would be appreciated.

Make sure your Ipod Touch is really in DFU Mode:

1.Hold down power and home button until the iPhone turns off. (some people say for 10 seconds)
2. When the screen goes black, wait ~1 second more and release the power button, continue holding the home button. (at this point the screen should stay black.

Then retry pwning it

So you think the ipod wasn't fully in DFU mode or something? Even though iTunes said that it successfully updated the ipod and it went through the motions of updating? The screen stayed black until the pineapple logo appeared.

there is a leaked beta installer 4.0 is it worth installing?

jailbrake isn't very stable though...

I solved the locking up problem by using the latest pwnage tool. Now on 2.1 and all is well so far.
