i googled and went to all my fav sites but i couldn't find anything that works. the most current suggested an older version of redsn0w and apple 3.1.2 firmware but that went nowhere, redsn0w didn't recognize the firmware. i did find a custom firmware at sinful but haven't tried it yet...my main computer (the one i sync the ipod with) went down before i found it. just wanted to know if anyone else had the same problem. only reason i even cared was that for some reason cydia crashed everytime i tried to open it. the ipod is still on 3.0 but i hadn't updated cydia since jay updated it. it wouldn't open at all...

If the iPod touch is still running iOS 3.0 then you need to use the correct 3.0 IPSW (for your model) to jailbreak it (and redsn0w 0.9.2)

Otherwise, you could restore or update to 3.1.3 (or 3.1.2) via iTunes and then try to jailbreak with redsn0w 0.9.2 or 0.9.4 and a 3.1.2 IPSW.

We can't link to such IPSW because these were paid upgrades (they cost $5 or $10 if I recall correctly) and as such linking to these paid for IPSW is warez (which we don't allow here).
