I started typing the command at "Rf" when is starts at "chmod -Rf +x /Applications/ "

So make sure you don't make the same mistake!

If you do that it should work as mine is now doing!

My calender however does not let me add events despite copying over the folders suggested here twice - its just the standard touch calender!

any ideas how to sort that! also sketches keeps crashing! why is that?
Just copy the /Applications/MobileCal.app from iPhone 1.1.1 to /Applications/ on your iTouch. Just replace it with iPhone one and don't forget to apply chmod like you did again.

after copy the files you should go to terminal:

    ssh -l root xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx ( x = itouch IP )
    password: alpine

    once you get there

    chmod -Rf +x /Applications/*
( * = means all files. you can specify the file name like in this case MobileCal.app )

    It should work.

I have all the apps installed but they don't open, they crash after 5 seconds.

    Default change order with pogostick/springboard

Does anybody know how to/if we can change the order of applications on 1.1.1 using the pgostick hack? I have a few apps and mail is getting bumped to the second page. Do you know if it works based on alphabetical order? If so, will mail still work if you change its name? Any help would be appreciated.

Do we need OS X to do this and what's SSH and SFTP?

I've seen dozens of people asking this on the various iPod touch / iPhone hacking related forums.

Quick summary: If you don't know what "root", "SFTP", or "SSH" are, then you have no business trying to pull this off.

So, I've gotten through the whole guide, fixed the Calendar, installed Weather, Maps and Mail along with about 13 other 3rd party apps (all which work :-D) but Mail still crashes on me. I installed the MobileMail bundle as the guide says and can add log in info for my gmail account, but, as I said, Mail still crashes on me.

    I've done the chmod -R a+x Media_sym/Applications/* deal, so I know it's not that.

    Any suggestions?

While I don't think it should have any effect, did you put the preference bundle file in the /System/Library/PreferenceBundles/ folder?

I suspect this merely controls the application preference screen in the preference menu, however its also possible that the absence of this could cause some issues.

Also, your path to the Applications folder includes /Media_sym/ I take it you have moved the apps to another location on the Touch, rather than the default /Applications/ folder? If not, then this could be the problem, since you're chmodding a folder and its contents with the following path /Media_sym/Applications/*

Hey, I'm trying to do a windows jailbreak, and i got to the point where you have to open the CMD and do "dropbearkey -t rsa -f dropbear_rsa_host_key" but its not working. I have all the files and everything. Any ideas?
