Default iTouch's new (offically updated) apps, possible to transfer to another ?

    lets take this scenerio...

    think that jailbreak is happened....

you were able to port iphone maps etc apps to itouch before, but now these apps are provided for itouch as well. now apple knew already these apps were transfered to itouch in previous updates...

    here is the question:

since now these old apps offered on itouch as purchase and requires some sort of activation by itunes, do you think apple may have added new check or whatever security to differantiate the iphone apps from itouch apps (which are both same but!)?

because once jailbreak is done (which i think apple probably knows it will happen already) there is a chance that apple added some sort of security mechanism to differantiate one from other (special check for signiture or whatever) since you can only enable these apps once you purchase them...

    what do you think guys?

That's actually a very good point.

One one hand, the operating systems of two devices are the same, with the exception that the iPhone firmware has mobile phone functions and the associated setting and applications.

However, since the extra apps (and now the new features) for iPhone are included for free, there would be no need to have the verification system for the iPhone version of the apps. Unless Apple envisaged that the firmware would eventually get jailbroken, so built the verification in to the iPhone as well, to protect their income from the iPod touch upgrade.

There's an easy way to find this out. If someone running windows with firmware 1.1.3 on their iPhone downloads iPhoneList (only the standalone.exe file installs for me) then checks if there is folder named nikita, we could tell. If there is no folder, then the verification method for iPod touch doesn't exist on the iPhone firmware version.

yeah but i dont have iphone, so cant confirm anything, if someone with iphone can confirm it, we will all know it... once jailbreak released for ipod (i dont know when devs are going to stop saying ooh we cant do it, apple will patch it, sort of things will not help anyone, apple will patch the firmware wheter they release it or not, and they always do anyway...) and if there is check up for certain things in ipod but not in iphone version, we can still move them from iphone to ipod like before... but it doesnt look like devs are willing to provide software jailbreak method for either of the devices, although it is confirmed to be able to do it... so i guess we will have to wait for one month, and see another patched firmware for sdk release and jailbreak gone, and wait another method for another god knows how many months... sounds like devs are getting scared or getting greedy about information... i suppose they are competing with eachother as well...
