iTouch cases
I just got my Ipod Touch a week or so ago and though the screen is surprisingly resilient (from all the reports I've heard) I still don't feel comfortable without having my electronics protected in some sort of case.
I've got one of these on order. I don't want to ruin the nice slim form factor of the iTouch, I still want to keep it nice and protected.
Has anyone else tried one of these Invisible Shields? How well do they work?
What's the consensus on cases in general? Is anyone else getting one?

Honestly I'm mainly buying this for my peace of mind and also to keep the back in pristine order. I still remember with chagrin how scratched up the back of my 3G iPod got just from being in my pocket. I'd like to feel confident keeping my iTouch in the same pocket as my cellphone without damaging it in any way.

Indeed, the glass is hard to scratch. But the back metal scratches extremely easy.

I've heard good things, but like you wanted to find out for myself. Not so much for the hard glass front, but for the reflective back. I ordered a review unit and it should be arriving early this week. I'll be writing up a review shortly after and i'll post it for all of you here.
I will be focusing a lot on the BACK of the iPod since glass is so hard to scratch in the first place. We all know air scratches the back of the darn thing.
I'll be using keys, knives, tacs, etc, I'm a little worried about it, but i think i will also try a fresh razor blade as well as skidding along a sidewalk.

The tests and reviews looked pretty legit but I look forward to hearing your take. I'll post my thoughts once mine arrives and is installed.

I'm going to be looking at how easy it is to scratch, scuff, how well it protects the shiny curved edges, and how it does with fingerprints and such. how does it feel to hold, how noticeable is it, etc. and on the front, how does it affect finger movement across the screen (the glass is very smooth, so it will be interesting to compare).
As well as installation of the product itself. (which according to their recommended instructions takes 24 hours!)

i got the invisible shield for mine. its great, i got the full body shield but left the screen shield off. the screen shield makes it too sticky IMO. the glass has the perfect friction cooef plus its basically scratchproof. i left the plastic on mine until the invisible shield arrived and the back of mine is still pristine. the only problem with it is when i put it on i didnt realize i covered the power/sleep button a tiny bit (about 1mm). it doesnt affect the functioning of the button at all though so its no big deal. also, the invisible shield makes the back look a little ripple-y but id rather that than scratches.

Glad to hear it works well.
I'll have to see how the screen protector feels. You're right though the iTouch screen feels really nice and your finger slides really well. I wouldn't want to wreck that...
