I've been given an ipod touch to update to the latest firmware. is there a version of quickpwn or anything which will update it straight to version 3 or 4 yet ?

The old version of winpwn2.5 i have only upgrades to version 2.0 (but i dont have the restore files)

Until iOS 4.0 upgrades to iPod touch have never been free. This was due to a US accounting rule. Now this rule has been clarified/updated - Apple no longer has to charge for major iOS updates for the iPod touch.

However, this does not help you - iOS 4 is not supported on first gen iPod touch.

So you need to purchase iOS 3.1 for your iPod touch. It costs $5 or $10 US dollars.
