Have you tried restoring stock firmware back into your 3GS?
You need to restore a stock firmware into your device before you even start to jailbreak. Without the stock firmware implemented, you can't proceed to the next step.

1.) First download the required this archive iPad/iPhone/iPod Recovery - send big files the easy way

2.) Extract the archive to the root of your hard drive, should be C:/DFU/

3.) Connect your iPhone and ignore iTunes

    4.) Goto Start - run

    5.) Next type in “c:/dfu/dfu iBSS.m68ap.RELEASE.dfu”

6.) Wait for iPhone to show a “white” screen. So you are in DFU mode
My device wont even show up on my computer because it is locked.
