i need to get the 2.0 update for my ipod touch and i have the biggest issue is that i live in a non supported country...

i searched everywhere and found out that most people saying that i'll have to wait..till apple make a store for my country..but i can't just give up...

first i had the itunes account problem which i couldn't create cuz i don't have a credit card i searched the forums asking if i could buy stuff from another country's store (which is the usa) and till now i couldnt tell ......does apple know that i'm signing in from another country? beacuse i tried to install free apps but i got the error 1009.....then i solved the problem by using an application for anonymos surfing...

i found the way to create the itunes account without the credit card and now i have a working account (a USA one)where i can download album art and free songs

my problems and questions are these:

now the only ISSUE I HAVE IS THE GIFT CARD
so to buy the update i need to have money in my account and i can get a gift card from canada THE MAIN PROBLEM is that my account is USA so i could have my friend sign in to my american account and put the money in it SINCE the gift card only works in canada!! then i enter my account from my country which now will have money and buy the update from the US store and install it ????


so my question is : IS THIS POSSIBLE or i should just jaibreak my 1.1.4???

BY the way I can download FREE APPS from my country using the us account ...

another question which i couldn't know its answer is that IF i jailbreak my ipod from pawnage using 2.0 file does this give me the update for free? so i wouldn't have to go through all the gift card thing?

hope you're still checking this thread - the 2.0 to 2.1 updates will cost you 10 bucks to get it from the apple store once (ex if you buy 2.0 the 2.1 is free).. your best solution is grabbing the firmware (by now you can use up to 2.1) from a bittorent site. once you have the firmware downloaded you can select it using itunes by holding down the shift key and clicking the restore button from inside of itunes (shift is assuming your using windows, on my hackintosh i have to use the alt key on a g15 key board and on my macbook its the option key). a window will pop up and let you navigate to the .ipsw you have just downloaded..

I have a similar but not exactly the same question. I am wanting to buy a ipod touch, i have two options one is a refurbished first generation the other the new model.

How much different are the two models? does the new version 2 software give compatibility to the older model.

help on this would be appreciated
