Default An idea for a Mobile Mac OS X Web Badge

Here's something that I'm working on. If it turns out that an app can be written once for both the iPhone & iPod Touch, maybe a badge on the app's website stating this would be appropriate, similar to when a badge states if an app is a Universal Binary or not. Below is just a rough idea for such a badge. Suggestions on how to improve it would be awesome.

I'm sure any software linked to the same framework versions will run on either, but what's even cooler is that Mach-O binaries allow machine code for any number of architectures (not just the not so "Universal" PPC and Intel), which don't even have to execute similar functions. So for example you could have a version of Skype which runs on your PPC or Intel mac as a desktop application, but if you copy it to you're iTouch it runs ARM code written specifically for the iPhone/iTouch environment.

So that's not particularly a bad idea, but, um, that thing is pretty janky. For one, get a copy of Myriad Pro. And I'd suggest using something reminiscent of a springboard icon for the logo.

Here's one I did in photoshop as a starting point. Should it be simplified more? made more ambiguous so as to include the iphone and ipod touch? Suggestions?

TimidTiger, that's a good staring point. Maybe include OS X underneath "Portable"?

Yeah, adding os x makes sense, but below I find that it kinda throws the balance off, So instead I shrunk the text and used a light gray. Tell me whatcha' think.

update: here's a bit of a comparison, maybe something more blue to match the rest of the icons?

I like the third one at the bottom (blue iPod/iPhone), but I agree that it throws the balance off a bit. How about putting the "OS X" inside the iPod/iPhone? On the screen so to speak.

    PS. First post.

TimidTiger, maybe for the iPod/iPhone, put a tiny Finder face with OS X under the face & then "Portable" underneath the iPod/iPhone? Oh & awesome design for it btw. Really what I had in mind for this but lacked the skills to make it happen. Oh & had another idea. For apps that are for the iPhone only, maybe put a phone on the screen of the device in the badge? Just a thought

Here's what I got from the ideas being tossed around.
For the first one, i tried just OS X in the center of the screen but it felt a bit too cramped so I opted for something more simple and used the "X" that's on the os box.

For the second one, celebi23 I'm not quite sure what you mean with the first idea but here's the second one. And thanks for the compliment I like doing random projects like this, it helps me work my photoshop muscle.

i think what hes saying is instead of the phone or X like in your most recent version put the finder icon.

id make it black again, its kind of a misrepresentation to have it blue since neither the iphone/ipod touch are. i understand keeping with the mac/universal color scheme, but it just doesnt fit IMO. i think the screen should be kept white and the reflection grey.

    either way, great work.
