How do I upgrade a 1.1.4 ipod touch to 2.0?
I am supposed to help a friend, I own an iphone, I never did this for a touch, am I supposed to buy the 2.0? Or can I get it off the internet? Wouldn't that be illegal?

Well, Depends. I went and bought a iTunes $15 giftcard. I bought firmware 2.0 off iTunes (around 10 dollars). Downloading it is illegal, but I heard can be done. I'd just buy it off itunes, restore your ipod touch / iphone with it, and well, Jailbreak if you wish. I too went from 1.1.4 to 2.0 this way. Buying is best for updates!

l just used itunes for an automatic update to 2.0.2
l just put the touch in restore mode and plugged it into my comp. itunes came up and said it needed restoring.lt then updated and restored from 1.1.5.
l then quickpwned it in about 5-10 mins.

Upgrading is pretty easy, downgrading is the tricky part.
To upgrade, download the 2.0 firmware here
Make sure that you have iTunes 7.7 or later installed
On your devices folder in itunes, hold down the shift key and click restore
Select the firmware file you downloaded and let it restore.

I have a quetion related to this, whenever I try to restore to 2.0 from my 1.1.4 iTunes always freezes when it says "Preparing iPod for Restore" and after like 10 minutes it will give me a 1604 error. What the hell is going on? And OP I'm sorry I'm asking this in your topic but you might run into this problem too, and I don't want to waste forum space.
