Hi, I've been trying to jailbreak my Ipod today and have been running into a lot of trouble. My Ipod is the Ipod touch 3rd gen, iOS 4 updated but not to 4.0.2.
I've looked around, and none of the tips really help me. The appdata/ tunes..etc thing is just utterly empty, there's nothing in there that I can find with hidden folders made viewable. I downloaded the right firmware, in .ipsw form, and restored my Ipod from that. When I got to redsn0w,and tried to jailbreak it, I receive the following: Unable to recognize specified IPSW. I then tried a different IPSW, to no avail. I was wondering if someone could tell me what I'm doing wrong, or recommend a different program to get the job done?

** When I talk about itunes etc, here's where I'm looking:
C:\Users\Myusername\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPod Software Updates
(The Folder just comes up blank)

You either downloaded the wrong firmware or you are using an outdated version of redsn0w.

I had this problem also. But i read an article linking me to this version of redsn0w and the iPod firmware. It worked for me when I attempted to jailbreak my iPod Touch 2G... even though i am having some problems (my iPod is not rebooting when its supposed to - nothing to do with the firmware or redsn0w itself... I'm probably just doing something wrong:/).
