Full Restore
Hi all,
I know people have been posting bits and pieces over the forum on how to restore an iTouch, but I just want to have a really complete and up to date tutorial on this:
1) After I've jailbroken my iTouch (+install app) - how do I fully restore it so that the people in the Apple store cant tell the difference?
2) Are there any good website on any resources regarding the iPod Touch? (e.g. latest apps, iphone apps...)
3) Does it crash more often once apps are installed?
4) Does the SDK that apple is going to offer in Feb include ipod touch?
5) Is there a special procedure to make the Youtube programme work after I jailbroken the ipod touch?
Thanks all very much! Appreciate it.

1. Just restore the firmware in iTunes.
2. Not sure - I just check here. In terms of Apps checking Installer.app once a day or so should keep you pretty much upto date on what you can get.
3. Can't say I've noticed mine crashing more or less than a base install of the software.
4. Yes.
5. Nope. Youtube ships as a default app on all iPod Touches, since the oldest firmware available is 1.1.1 it should always work with no hackery needed.

2) in the installer app click sources at the bottom right, then click edit at the top right, then add the site "repo.us.to" takes a few for it to refresh after it does this you now have a new section under install for 1.1.1 or 1.1.2 firmware itouch to install the iphone apps (make sure you do the google maps prep before the actual install you can find the package for this prep under either the 1.1.1 or 1.1.2 section, same goes with mail other than that click and install away.
3) only if you install an old app thats not made for the right version other than that its stable as can be
I recommend you being on 1.1.2 since its the latest and its very easy to get to. download the apple 1.1.1 restore file do a restore then jailbreakme.com then download the okny 1.1.2 prep then install 1.1.2 then download the jailbreak for 1.1.2 and your set.

i just bought my son an iPod touch for xmas. i'm trying to add apps and update the firmware then box it up again so its ready for xmas morning.
however there is one thing that I am finding hard to locate.
i have restored to 1.1.1
installed AppSnap
but i cant find the okny 1.1.2 prep in the installer list of programs...
Am I looking in the wrong place for this?
Or is there a missing step not documented above that I need to do first to have this 'repo' in my installer?
Any help would be grateful...

ok found it. i didnt realize i was looking for the oktoprep, thread said okny
so i installed it... updated to 1.1.2 and ran the jailbreak.jar file.
follwed instructions but it hangs halfway through the "Jailbreaking.... Reading Flash Image" process... no matter how long I leave it it never goes past arounf 30%.
is there something else I'm missing?
