Default [Error] BSD root :mdo, major 2, minor 0

Hey all, I just recently updated my ipod touch to 1.1.4, then tried a new method of jailbreaking (Ziphone) and I think I may have destroyed my ipod. Everytime I plug it in, the ipod is not reconized by either itunes or my computer, and on the ipod itself the line "BSD root :mdo, major 2, minor 0" keeps scrolling down over and over and over. Is there anything I can do to fix my ipod?

Don't panic, calm down, you have destroyed nothing.

The only way to break an iPod touch is physically.

Just put it in DFU mode and restore it.

And oh yeah, use the search next time

It seems very strange to me that NONE of the iPhone JB methods work on the touch 16/32GB models.

Independence crashes, iLiberty crashes and I know that ZiPhone and iPlus won't work either.

Apple has not made the iPod Touch unhackable so why isn't working?

it seems really odd to me!

I tried iJailbreak and got the same BSD error so restored it but I really am astounded at how hard it seems to JB this iPod compared to the iPhone!

XianLi- I have tried putting it in DFU mode, but it is not being reconized by my computer, in the program it never gets farther then "searching for iphone". Also, what do you mean by use "search"?

If you are talking about ZiPhone with the iPod then it WILL NOT work as it is for jailbreaking iPhones NOT iPods and that is why it isn't finding your iPod.

There is NOTHING you can do about this because it is not meant to work with your iPod yet!

If you are talking about getting your iPod into DFU mode to restore again then:

Plug the iPod INTO your PC WITH iTunes already running.

Then hold the home and sleep buttons until the screen of the iPod turns off then let go of the sleep button and keep pressing the home button and it WILL show up in iTunes.

Just in case that doesn't work - the only reason it wouldn't is if you got the timing of letting go of the buttons wrong then you can turn the iPod off then turn it on and immediately press the home button which will do the same thing!

Hi, I ran into the same exact problem today.

I have an iPod Touch 16 GB.

while I tryed jailbraking it for firmware 1.1.4 using ZiPhone GUI v2.5c
I got the same error message and according to some clips on youtube i was meant to restart my ipod (by clicking the home and off/on button at the same time) after that my ipod was supposed to be recognised by iTunes and the ZiPhone application. However this didn't happen, but instead my iPod is now stuck in the black screen with the writing, and displays this same message over and over again. No metter what I do, plug it out of the computer it does the same, plug it back in, it does the same.
The only way to turn it on right now is by pressing home and on/off buttons at the same time.
I really do not know what to do...
I do not think that I can use a computer to fix the problem as my ipod isn't recognized by the computer.
Unless there is something that can recognize my ipod in this mode

    Could somebody please help me???

I don't think it is even possible to send it to Apple? or is it?

    Thank You

No that's not true, you can jailbreak an iTouch 16gb and 32gb. Check out this video. I've verified it with 2 16gb iTouches, but it's been confirmed.

Plug it into your pc - itunes should be running.

Hold and press home and sleep buttons till the screen goes black - it takes several seconds - just keep holding it until it turns off and keep holding the buttons until the apple logo appears then let go of the sleep button and keep pressing the home button and then the itunes logo will appear and itunes will tell you to restore it.

    Easy!

This method "somehow" works like charm! Got my 16GB iPod Touch (upgraded to 1.1.4) jailbroken and customized.

    Thanks bryscomat!
