Question Canīt access letters on virtual-keyboard.

    Hello to all.

I am new to the iPodTouch (16GB), i just got it today.
And i experience the first problem:
-i canīt access the letters S E Z from the virtual keyboard (anymore).
-at first it was working, later, after some hours it happened.

Has anyone some ideas what goes wrong?
With this issue i canīt even write my WLAN password.
    iPodTouch came with FW 1.01
    I upgraded to FW 1.1.1.

PS.Restored the iTouch several times within iTunes (latest).
Even deleted the FW inside iTunes folder to be sure to have an fresh and intact FW bin.

What happens when you tap a different key and drag your finger across "e" "s" or "z" ?

Hmm, in those three areas of non-sensitivity, when you try and scroll a page, does it respond by scrolling when you move your finger over the "problem spots"? If not, then seems you may have a damaged touch screen sensor in those areas.

    Hard to tell.
But it worked at first usage.
After 1-2 hours it begun to act weird and started itself applications.
Then i restored and after that the issue with the letters.

As was mentioned it sounds like faulty hardware (the touch screen not picking up input in those areas).

Test by seeing if icons or other touch sensitive buttons under those areas work. If not you made need to return your iTouch.

Well...after unpacking the thing again, i tested as you wrote:

    -all buttons functioning ok
-area under the suspect letters is functioning properly when under other circumstances
-only virtual keyboard in normal mode is not functioning properly !!!

    Very weird.

Well if you're absolutely positive that the screen works fine without the keyboard there then it's obviously a software issue. So try and restore the firmware through iTunes and see if that sorts anything out.
