[Advice] Can it sream content from remote hard drive like a AppleTV?
Like many of you, I have a few gigs of movies, tv shows, music and ect on the hard drive of my computer. This content is streamed to my AppleTV's located around the house via a wireless network.
I am unclear about the iPod Touch. I know it has wifi, but can it also stream video, music, ect, from my computer's hard drive like an AppleTV.
This is a big selling point for me. Many times I would like to take / watch a podcast on my iPod, but not enough to run back downstairs to sync the iPod with iTunes. If I could sync wirelessly from anywhere on my network range then I'm in (and very impressed). If I can't, it seems like a simple oversight that needs Steve Job's attention -- heads got to roll:p

yeah i think that would be a great selling point for the iPhone*touch (2)
they need some...something to get the haters (me) off the topic of "Wow,thats a nice poor mans iphone"

when a jailbreak comes out, i'm sure this would be relativly easy to implement.
look at pimpstreamer for the psp.
i'm sure the wifi on this is even faster than on the psp too.
that would be a very major selling point for me, along with jailbreak.

agreed, been hopping pimpstreamer would work w/ the iphone but no... if they ever got something like that to work it would be great.

It can stream music/videos via Safari.

Look here

it works for the iPhone and iPod Touch. Running it over the internet here.
To be precise, it is not streaming, more kind of sharing but it works perfect.

iPhone Remote
There is a program I found called iPhone Remote that will allow you to stream iPod Touch compatible files through the mobile Safari browser. It does alot of other tings as well but streaming is the most udeful in my opinion. Just search for via google or on any of the iphone/ipod touch app sites.

The EyeTV update released today does exactly this, so it's definitely possible if someone knocks up a comparable program.

edit: "The iPhone and iPod touch connect via Safari to a Web server running within EyeTV 2.5 to browse the EyeTV Archive and its playlists."
