Default [1.1.4] Jailbreak killed wi-fi tables. Fix?

    Hey all,

I tried jailbreaking a 16gb iPod Touch firmware 1.1.4 and everything went through without any errors. However, upon rebooting the iPod I haven't been able to connect to any wi-fi hotspot, including open networks. It returns error "Cannot Join Network."

I've tried restoring, downgrading in DFU mode, etc. At this point I'm stuck. I currently have a restored 1.1.4 with broken wi-fi. It sees the networks fine - just can't connect to them.

Anyone have any clues as to a workaround? The warranty has (obviously) been voided and the girlfriend is not happy.

Someone suggested restoring to 1.1.1 then trying iLiberty once more. I was able to restore to an older firmware once, however a second jailbreak did not correct the issue. Once I restored back to 1.1.4 I have been unable to go back to older firmware (even while in DFU mode) as iTunes returns Unknown Error 1 or 5.

Sorry for the long post. Please help.

EDIT: FYI, I have a jailbroken/unlocked iPhone that connects to the same networks just fine. So it's 100% an issue with the iPod itself.

Update: BB-Info shows Baseband as empty. Restoring doesn't rewrite it. Any fixes for this with a non-working WiFi?

    Any ideas yet?

    "BB-Info shows Baseband as empty."

You probably shouldn't be jailbreaking your iPod if you don't know what you are doing.

Let me put it this way... You're baseband should be empty.

Fine as that may be, the remaining fields (including modem info) also shows up as empty - and from what others are saying - that may be the root of the issue. As I left out the modem report from BB-Info in my post above I'll ignore your caustic remark. I do appreciate the reply though. I haven't found anyone else with this issue. Others report Wi-Fi as greyed out - mine isn't, and it sees the area SSIDs, it just can't connect. I'm just looking for the best way to virginize the device to ensure everything is rewritten and restored. So far - nada.
