Would gratefully appreciate any suggestions with this one lads, no carrier signal aft
Would gratefully appreciate any suggestions with this one lads, I have no carrier signal after 3.0.1 jailbrake. If however I perform a restore all is well again and I get a signal. I am running the phone on the O2 network which is the contracted network in the UK.
Basically I am not trying to run it unlocked to another network, any suggestions you guys have would be greatly appreciated. I have already tried resetting the network settings back to default. I am an experienced jailbraker and have performed the process using redsnow 8 and the 3.0.0 IPSW as specified in the instructions. I have no issues at all jailbreaking the actual phone.

Since you are in O2 carrier try to restore it again on 3.0.1 version and repeat jailbreak without inserting the O2 simcard. Post result after you done.

Thanks for your suggestion mate, is there a know issue of sorts jailbreaking with the sim installed? Can jailbreaking with the SIM card installed cause problems sometimes? I will give it a whirl tomorrow and report back.

The only important thing when Jailbreaking a contracted iPhone (like you are up to) or a factory unlocked one (like mine) is to:
1. Restore to the latest firmeware, what is 3.0.1
2. Activate in iTunes, so you can use the iPhone
3. Run redsn0w, just install (check) cydia (my recomm.), do not check unlock.
Step 2 is essential for legit (contract or factory unlocked) customers cause in this step a legit activation record is put on the iPhone. Redsn0w will in step 3 look for a legit record. if not present it will place a fake record that leads to problems with push apps later.
You do not need to checl "unlock" cause you are on a legit contract.
One last, after done with Redsn0w, iTunes will offer to "restore data from a backup". Dont choose this one, instead go for "setup as a new iPhone" and sync afterwards.
Uups, forgot this one: Leave your o2 simcard in the iPhone during redsn0wing, otherwise you'd get a fake activation record and would have to check "unlock"
