I am having a particularly shitty problem, and have spent all of two days trying to fix it.

First, here are the specs of my iphone:
3g,3.1.3 Os
baseband: .05.12.01
bootloader: 5.9
model: mb496
carrier: aT&T

I bought this phone in france about a year and a half ago, jailbroke and unlocked it (I can't remember how, but I'm pretty sure it was using blackra1n) so that I could use it here in the US (I bought a Sim card from AT&T, and have a 2 year iphone plan). It worked perfectly until yesterday when my phone lost all reception, and froze for no apparent reason. I hard resetted it, and then restarted it at which point the battery was almost completely drained, and every time I tried to restart it, it would show the battery almost empty, would then load the apple logo, would then flash once rapidly, and would go back to the low battery icon.

I then put the phone into dfu mode and attempted to restore it using itunes, and a 3.1.3 ipsw. My major problem now is that my phone is re-locked, and im not sure how to jailbreak it and unlock it again considering I cant get past the emergency call screen.

I have spent the past 48 hours doing everything from attempting to use sn0wbreeze to create a custom ipsw (when restoring it using the custom ipsw, itunes will hang at "preparing to restore phone" and then will give me error code 1604), using iReb to get past error 1604 (my phone's screen never seems to flash white no matter how many times I try, and how long i keep it connected), using Spirit to jailbreak it (spirit doesnt work if your phone cant get past emergency call screen/activated) and at this point I'm getting ready to give up, though I really would rather not.

With no avail, I have scoured the internet for a fix, and at this point I am desperately looking for any sort of way to get my phone back and running that doesn't require me buying a new one. Please, please, please help me out if possible, I can't tell you how much I'd appreciate it !

PS: baseband 05.12.01 is now unlockable through ultrasn0w, so theoretically this should be possible somehow

Redsn0w will directly jailbreak this. The trick is to give redsn0w a 3.1.2 ipsw when it asks for one.

Then use ultrasn0w for unlock.
