Unable to restore iPhone 2G 3.1.2
I have a 2G iPhone with firmware 3.1.2. I used blackra1n to jailbreak. I then tried to unlock with Bootneuter 2.1. Settings were:
Version 4.6
Neuter On
FakeBlank Off
Unlock On
Bootneuter completed and the iPhone rebooted. When it rebooted I got the message
Restore Needed
iPhone cannot make or receive calls. Restore from iTunes.
Apple - Support Displays the USB plug connecting to iTunes logo. I can go to the emergency call window but not the homescreen. See image: http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/k...e/IMG_0161.jpg
When I click on the "i" icon it says
IMEI: Unknown
ICCID: Unknown
When I connect to iTunes I receive the message
iTunes cannot activate your iPhone because the SIM card is not inserted or a SIM PIN is required.
Disconnect your iPhone, make sure the SIM card is inserted correctly and, if you use a SIM PIN, tape Unlock to enter it, and then reconnect your iPhone.
There is nothing wrong with the SIM card, I believe this message is appearing because iTunes can't detect the IMEI or ICCID. When I searched for a solution, I came up with threads that were all over a year old, so I was hoping for a more up-to-date solution.
Thank you.

What OS were you running before the upgrade? How did you unlock your iPhone earlier? AnySIM? Boot Neuter? ziphone?
There could be a few different causes for this..

Not sure what the OS was before upgrade, but it wasn't jailbroken or unlocked.
Before I flashed with Bootneuter, I ran it and it said there was some clash with the Comm-something and told me to restart, so I did. When I ran it again it didn't pop up any error. Before this I tried to install blacksn0w before I realized that it didn't work with the 2g

I did the EXACT same thing and was hoping someone had replied to your post. If you read this, please let me know if you had any luck getting your phone going again. Thanks

Have you tried restoring your OS jailbreaking again and running boot neuter then?
