Trick iphone 2g into saying 3g
Hi
Is it possible to trick my phone network into thinking I am using a 3g iphone instead of a 2g. Basically they wont allow my 2g iphone to receive mms messages even though I had it working before they changed the settings on my account, they told me (o2 uk) if the phone told the network its a iphone 3g then it would work fine
Thanks
Jonathan

Did you guys enable the iPhone 2G to be capable using MMS?
iClarified - iPhone - How to Enabled MMS on Your iPhone 2G
After that make sure to configure mms settings properly and it should work.

Hi there,
Yeah I have the same problem... i'm on o2 uk and have a 2g iphone running 3.0
I've installed the activatemms2g and input all the right settings. The first thing I did then was send myself an mms, it went through and I recieved it! I then sent my partner an mms to show her the fruit of my 2 days stress and labourings, And she recieved it no problem. I thengot her to send me an mms, but I got a message from o2 saying they've updated the settings and as I have a 2g iphone, they will instead send me a link to the picture. i thought i would try sending myself an mms again and that also came through as a link. the cheek...
So I was able to send myself a picture message and recieve it properly, and once o2 updated my settings all I would recieve is a link. I'm guessing this is an o2-only problem as no one on other carriers have seemed to have these problems. But considering full mms use is available on other cariers, surely there is a way to fix this for us poor o2 customers??

You will need to change the IMEI or fake anther, which is most likely, very illegal. They identify your phone via the model part of this ID.

Well this might not last long. If O2 is workign the same like they do here, they will recheck your handsets typo on every card change. If you pop the card out of your phone and in another and back, I guess all will be gone again. Maybe even turning it off might kill this trick.

i cant see any reason for them doing anything, ive popped it in and out and they havnt sent any settings for that reason. Its down to you requesting the picture message settings which then in turn messes up receiving picture messages on your iphone with the 2g hack.
They can turn your mms on and off for you, which i guess just resets it, so back to normal before the 1010 text thing. I guess they have created that 1010 text to create hassle and try and make you move over to the new iphone!
