Reboot loop can DFU and iphone not detected
Hi there, was wondering if anyone could help me out.
My iPhone is stuck on a reboot loop (only showing the logo and then every 10 minutes or so switching off for 1 second and then showing the logo again), trying to put it into recovery or DFU mode doesnt work - it seems that neither the power nor the home button work for i dont get a response when using them.
When i plug it into the mains or my macbook it charges, i know this for when it runs out of battery i can plug it in and the reboot loop will start again. However when plugged into my macbook it doesnt appear in system profiler and itunes doesnt see that its connected. (when plugged into windows vista it doesnt appear in device manager)
I dont see any visible damage to the connection port so i dont see why the iphone isnt detected, the port obviously works because it is charging.
I was reading this thread 'http://www.hackint0sh.org/showthread.php?p=506691#post506691' and i seem to have a very similar problem to Jlove, i also got into this loop by erasing all data and settings. (A stupid thing to do, i know now, but i didnt know that at the time. I decided to factory reset it because the home button wasnt working so i couldnt put it into dfu or recovery mode)
Can anyone help me?
Any advice would be really appreciated.
I hope i havent completely messed up my iPhone.
[This is a jailbroken iPhone 3g running 3.1.2]

So after much searching i figured out what was wrong with my iphone, ribbon cable number 4 was disconnected (this cable connects to speakers, home button and more connection). So today i went out and bought a small screwdriver, opened it up and low and behold the ribbon cable was disconnected, all i had to do was click it back in place. Then i was able to enter DFU mode, the iphone is restoring now.
With any luck it should all be fine. Stupid hardware issues.
