Discuss Push Notifications on iPhone 2G (EDGE w/ OS3.0) at the iPhone OS 3.x - Hackint0sh.org; This is a result from transferring an iPod Touch 2g's certificates after a fresh install ...

This is a result from transferring an iPod Touch 2g's certificates after a fresh install of 3.1.2, jailbreaking it using the latest blackra1n, and following the procedures outlined in this thread exactly to transfer it to the iPhone 2g. This iPhone 2g has been previously altered with the MMS hack and no restore/rejailbreaking was necessary. =) another great addition to my phone!
EDIT: It's also hacktivated, never once activated on my account via iTunes.
For a test app on the iPod Touch, install the Free AIM app and get a buddy to IM you. Once you know push notification's working, follow the steps and you'll get it working perfect! It scared me because at first I wasn't sure if it would work, but after a few reboots for good measure, I suddenly got my voicemail notification and badge alerts! Youtube is also working fine and dandy.
Thanks again team, and everyone, you are all amazing for being able to give us directions to get this working.
(now going to try tethering..lol ^^)

iPod touch don't need to install "extracted" certificates, as any iTouch can activate properly over iTunes.
But the iTouch certificates will work on the iPhone.

What I was asking is if this process for generating certs worked on the iPod Touch for generating certs. The tutorial always talks about an iPhone. I tried this about 8 times on an iPod Touch and never was able to get anything but the same certs...

My assumption is that you might need to continuously restore and go through the process to jailbreak and get the necessary apps and perform the same process to extract the certificates. Sadly, I haven't been able to try it, so I apologize if this information is invalid, but it's a reasonable method when working with what you have to generate multiple certs.

Do we have new certificate if starting from a restore from itunes ?
The thing is that i do not have an custom ipsw. I use an iphone freshly restore on itunes do the nimble part to extract the keys then inject them in an hacktivate iphone 2g then i do a complete restore on the legit one and activate it again on itunes.
Are the certs differents ?
Do i get each time i restore my legit iphone on itunes new certificates ?
Cause with a restore on itunes, if you deleted the folder and the files from the lockdown and reboot, the iphone is still activate, it doesn't ask for a new activation. So the only way to activate it again is a new restore.

Try deleting the keychain.db file after you delete lockdown and then restarting.

Could anyone provide me unique certificates? I have an iPhone 2G that I use, hacktivated, unlocked and jailbroken, and don't know anyone with a legit iphone around me...
Would really appreciate the help!

you need to go to pushfix.info
I just want to be sure of one thing. I have an original ATT iPhone SIM which does not correspond to an activated account. I understand that as long as it is inserted during the restore of a custom firmware, iTunes will activate the phone -- as long as it is a 3G or 3GS. Apparently, this does not work for the 2G. Is that correct?

Look at this article Using an iPhone without a wireless service plan it explains how you can activate an iPhone that was sold locked to AT&T without an active AT&T account.
