activated with the att card than jailbrake and unlock, than switched the att card with tmobile card and everything works perfect so far i ben using it for 2 days already. push and everything else works great.

Save the certs for later use, dont share them. Next time the iPhone is restored/upgraded you can re-inject them without borrowing your friends AT&T simcard ;-

I'm so stupid. I have my 2g iphone i bought in 07, just as they came out. Had ATT for a year an a half until I deactivated the service. So for months, I was using the iPhone as iPod touch, only able to Safari, all the app that required internet when WIFI was available. At that time, I had not unlocked my iPhone. When Push Notification came along, my iPhone was working flawlessly, granted only when wifi was available.

Well, just three days ago I decided to get a line at tmobile, and since I already had my iPhone, i took the plunge to unlock it. Everything went fine. Because the phone had never been unlocked, I was smart enough to Jailbreak it first, install aim, the free version, and pretty much made push work. I then unlocked it with boot neuter. Went over to tmobile, and they gave me tmobile's sim card.

Came home, happy. MMS was working perfect. Everything was great. Well, just my luck, my hard drive crashed. I lost leopard. I don't have time machine. So I changed my hard drive with a spare on, reloaded leopard, and got back online.

Then I get to syncing and I realized I'm going to have to re-sync my iPhone, which will pretty much restore my iPhone. I didn't twice. I start doing it. Halfway down the restore, I remembed, "I'm going to have to use my old ATT sim card to make push work." Then I sat there, thinking....crap.

I left my att sim card over at the counter.....at t-mobile....three days ago.
The one sim card that I could use to make push work!!!

I unlocked the phone again, but I have no push. It's hacktivated this time. Which is why I'm here. Is there anyone out there that give me a hand by giving me a set of certificates from an ipod touch, or a legit iPhone. Since you guys can create new certificates, can any of you create a set for me?

To make it less painful for you, I do not think that having a AT&T SIM would have allowed you to activated, given that you have discontinued your service, but since I cannot test it.

I have unused AT&T SIM as well as pre-paid, and they do not allow activation. Only a valid and in service SIM works for AT&T.

You're right, it wouldn't have allowed me to activate the phone. BUT, if I was to restore my iPhone with the stock 3.1.2 firmware, i would get the "Waiting for activation" message. However, it would still allow me to get to the springboard, which would allow me to use the phone as an ipod touch. As soon as I get access to the springboard, I'd jump into the wifi section, and use wifi access to get to the app store, download aim free, and "activate' the push notification system. This is the step we're missing. Activating the PNS before unlocking itself.

If you were to restore with an inactive sim card that's never been used an o iPhone, you won't be able to get to the springboard. You'll only get emergency call.

Is there anyway to compare push-certs to verify that they are indeed different? I have an iPod touch 2G that I am generating a number of certs from to pass around, give back to the community type thing, but I don't want them to be the same. I am doing like the one post said:

1. SSH into the iPhone, cp and chmod 0755 nimble to
/private/var/keycahins
2. run ./nimble and grab the four files, copy them to your PC
3. remove all files and folders in /private/var/root/Library/Lockdown
4. Reboot the iPhone
5. Start iTunes - it will activate your iPhone
6. Restart with step 1

But I want to make sure that after each re-activation, that they truly are different certs. I have Textplus installed and have push notification on, but I am not retesting push after each activation or anything. I don't know what to open the certs in to compare them.

I have a few certs that I can pass out if anyone wants some, PM me. I will try doing some, but I would want to verify uniqueness before passing them out.

Change the extension of the cert from .bin to .cer. If you have windows you can open & view them. I don't know if that's the same on a Mac

Thanks. I did and opened the cert file, but I don't know which part to check to see if which part is unique, do you know? I don't know which part should be different to signify a unique certificate.

If it did not work the files are the same, if it worked you're fine.

All parts of the certificate file (as seen when viewing as Windows *.cer file) are the same. Does this work for an iPod Touch?

Dont know, I only tried that one on iPhones. Stay tuned cause we're currently testing an even faster and cool way Olethros brought up.
