Procedure to upgrade from 3.0 to 3.1.2

Hello,

I havent upgraded since 3.0 Havent had the need really since there were hardly any features to entice me. but lately some of my favorite apps have gotten upgrades that arent out for 3.0.

So I have been out of the loop for a while. Is there a way to upgrade to 3.1.2 without losing all of my apps and having to reinstall them?

Do you rely on software unlock - that is ultrasn0w for 3.0?

Apps - appstore apps? or Cydia apps? including saved data for each app?
