iPhone 3G Stuck In Restore Mode
Okay, so ever since I've gotten my phone, I've had intentions of and have actually tried jailbreaking it, but I've never actually gotten to because problems like this keep occurring.
Earlier my computer wasn't recognizing the driver to my iPhone, so I put it into restore mode and was letting iTunes do its thing, but then I got that "The iPhone could not be restored. An error occurred," message.
So I searched Google, found a thread on this forum and thought I was saved. I already have the 3.1.3 firmware for iPhone on this computer labeled iPhone1,2_3.1.3_7E18, but when I chose it in iTunes, I got a message saying "iPhone firmware not compatible."
I really don't know why it could be saying this. I downloaded the firmware directly from Apple, so it should be compatible. I have the newest version of iTunes, but I don't know if that would affect this or not.
I've tried using iReb countless times in the past to try and bypass these messages, but it's never worked for me.
The only thing I can think of that might be the problem is that when I was clicking restore, iTunes asked me to install the new 4.0 OS, and I said yes. But since it never even went through with the restore, the 4.0 OS wouldn't even be on the iPhone, right?
