I recently got given an Iphone 2G by a friend who had broken its power button,
When i tried to restore it, the iphone went into recovery mode then the cable fell out.
The iphone stayed on with the plug into itunes symbol, but then I unplugged the cable the computer didnt show an iphone
Then the screen went blank and it isnt done anything since
...help someone please!
Likely your only way out now is DFU mode - which you cannot enter because the sleep/power button is broken.Quote:

You still have the ability to enter recovery mode if you can get the phone to turn on again - try connecting it to power (the standalone iPhone charger) with the home button held down.
Otherwise your only other option is to pay to get the power button repaired. This is usually quite cheap.
I thought iv read people saying gettin it repaired is quite expensive?
Depends on where you live I guess. I read someone in Sydney, Australia had this fixed cheaply and quickly (within an hour).Quote:
