Apple has a different revenue sharing model with AT&T for the 2G, that is why the activation system is more draconian.

I have a problem. I restored (a few times already) my 2 G FW 3.1.3 using pwnage tool (Mac) and iTunes 9 and Cydia is stuck on reloading then Cydia shuts down and back to Home screen. I am unable to Open SSH to get Push Fix to fix YouTube and/or reinstall Cydia. Can anyone tell me how to fix this. Thanks in advance. Basically I just want to fix YouTube, with or without Cydia.
@madrich,
You should be able to restore the 2G to stock 3.1.3.
From there, use redsn0w to jailbreak that device.
Make sure you use the correct redsn0w version that supports 3.1.3 firmware.
I believe it's redsn0w 0.9.2/0.9.3.
Not sure why Cydia crash on you like that ...
Dtube, Thanks so much for your reply. I will try it today or tomorrow (I am at work now). However, I am just curious. I hope that using Redsnow for 3.1.3 will fix my situation (I think I used it for the original FW 3.1 to JB and Unlock and subsequently used Pwnage for FW 3.1.2 and FW 3.1.3), but why is this a problem with the Pwnage tool; and not Redsnow?
When this first happened yesterday I restored to PWNAGE Custom FW that I kept, but the Cydia problem was still there, but it was not there the first time.
Hi Madrich,
- pwnagetool 3.1.5 supports iphone2g + firmware 3.1.2/3.1.3
- if you use redsn0w, then version 0.9.3 supports firmware 3.1.2 only - If you go this route, then you would use the custom firmware 3.1.3 created by pwnage and restore to it after redsn0w jailbreak.
Cydia in those package would be a little outdated but there isn't any reasons why it will not run.
I say use pwnagetool 3.1.5 to create a new custom firmware 3.1.3 again.
You don't need to select unlocked because the baseband on your phone is probably already neutered for good.
When I got home i turned-on my iPhone and selected Cydia. It still showed the spinning wheel and indicated reloading data. I had read at work that some people had a similiar problem and just let Cydia run its course; so I waited about 12 minutes and let it run and run. Cydia came back and indicated it wanted to upgrade! I upgraded and got the Push Fix and restored YouTube. I am synchronizing my settings, apps, music, etc. now.
I am Happy! Thanks for your help. Happy Holidays to you and yours!
