Hacktivate an already activated iphone
Is it possible to "hacktivate" an iphone that has already been activated?
Let me explain: my iphone is some weird stuff. It's a replacement from Apple. So, it's supposedly locked to Movistar sims. Unlike other locked iPhones I see around, when I put a different sim it doesn't say "invalid SIM". Rather, it shows the "connect to itunes to activate" screen.
If I connect to itunes, itunes says the SIM is not from a valid carrier.
I have a sim from TIM Italia (an official carrier for the iphone) and that one works with my iphone. When I put it in for the first time after a restore, I connect to itunes and itunes gives the OK to this sim card.
My point is that, one I put a SIM from a different operator, I can see that the iphone is logging into that cell network, I can see the logo and the signal strength meter. It's just that without activating I cannot take it any further.
So I was wondering.. maybe if I "hacktivate" my 3G, it will work with other networks, apart from Movistar and TIM.. since it bypasses the activation process, which is the only step that seems to be messing things up.
(by the way, I already jailbroke my iphone.. can I hacktivate without restoring?????)
