3.0 SMS Storage Limit
After owning an iPhone 3G since its launch, and never deleting an SMS - I received the error 'You must delete some messages from your inbox before you can receive any more messages' today.
Much to my dismay as I was under the understanding the iPhone now held 75.000 texts and I have 42,000 approx.
Is there any way to fix this?
Is there any way to keep the sms.db and go back to 2.2.1 where the limit was 75,000 as this seems to have been reduced in 3.0
Thanks

The iPhone combines text messages that spanned two messages (ie, were longer than 160 characters) when they come from another iPhone. Could it be that you really have 75,000 messages but they only appear as 42,000 because of this combining? I think they also count as two messages when you have sent the same message to two people at ounce. I am not sure about this.

Good point, Im just going on the numbers thrown out by the SMS Counter app on Cydia so I dont know.
Is there any way to hack into changing this number?
Thanks

Just back up the sms.db, it's an SQLlite db, with the phone numbers, a 2 for in, 3 for out, and a date that i don't know how to process, but you can convert that to a quite nice html file.
