So everyone has been on about the so called Gold Master 3.0 firmwares that are on the internet now.
I don't think I can, but is it possible to update my 2G to 3.0 while maintaining my unlock and jailbreak?
I feel like trying it just to see what would happen, but don't want to brick my phone or lock it and be stuck. Would I at least be able to go back to 2.2.1?
I know quickpwn 2.2.5 doesn't support 3.0, but anyone try anything like this yet?
Yea I'd also like to find out if I can update without loosing my unlock.. let me know what you find.
I would recommend not to do it. It will be locked again and doing a downgrade than will not work. At least it did not,only when I used the FW 3 B5 again. I can only recommend wait!
Yeah, I guess you're right. I'm sure there will be a solution within a week or two. It's tough being patient when that new functionality is already out there.Quote:

So i tried restoring my 2G using itunes 8.1 and after installing the firmware it couldn't verify it.
Is that because itunes 8.2 supports firmware 3.0 and the older versions don't?
Going back to 2.2.1 now
Im unsure, i used 8.2 both to revert to 2.2.1 and to upgrade to 3.0 GM
Undated my itunes to 8.2 and the restore to 3.0 worked fine. My unlock was still intact but my phone was no longer activated.
Went back to 2.2.1 and will wait for a quickpwn release that supports 3.0. Hope it doesn't take too long.
You need to flash it with 2.2.1 Pwnage Tool Firmware for the activation to stick just prior to Upgrading to 3.0GM or it wont work. Quickpwning the 2.2.1 will not work.
