anyone else feel this update was overhyped? added some nice features like search and copy n paste but there basic features which should of been there to begin with. Im not overly impressed with the new software. Yes i love some of the new features but i preferred my 2.1 jailbroken phone and wish i waited to upgrade.
What do you mean not impressed? I think its fantastic. I don't k ow how we survived with CUT, COPY N' PASTE function. How many times someone send me a contaxt number and I couldnt call that number.
Also, now you can just shake the phone and redo or undo typing.
And tons of other enhancements. I think it was way overdue and well worth the wait.
I know I will be putting my Blackberry 8900 in the drawer for some weeks now.
Give it a try and you will feel the difference.
yea yea im not disagreeing that its not good i love it but such a big deal and marketing and anticipation of release and trouble activating because the itunes servers were overloaded all over features which should of been included a year ago as standard is the point im making realy.
I completely agree. 3.0 has not been as big of update as 2.0 was. The only thing (non related to the Appstore or any Apple store) that was not already available to jailbreak customers has been A2DP (Stereo Bluetooth).
Spotlight Search: quickgold
Landscape SMS: MySMS or any sms app in cydia
Turn-by-turn: (the awesome) xGPS
That is all I currently remember as being new.
But thing like in App Purchase will only create more revenue for the Developers and Apple. It seems like only problems (money and drm restrictions) are only in store for the consumers.
I think time will tell.. one thing people are forgeting is all the new APIs added to the SDK and the ability for developers to use the bottom port and create add-on devices w/ software.
This isn't anything yet, but i think by the end of the summer you will start to see what a huge deal this really is.. the potential for gamepads, IR attachments to turn it into full universal remote w/ software support, better GPS add-ons, external KB... the possibilities with this are truely endless. Plus i find the OS overall to be a bit snappier in regards to speed... I do want to see more games out soon that use the bluetooth p2p connection and more messaging apps that use push technology.. i feel there was enough time to develop it and the lack of them after the initial release worries me a bit... Things like that are where you will really see this OS version shine.
That being said though, i can't wait to jailbreak this puppy and get vid recording back
