no service issue
Hello,
I've bought a new iPhone 2G in may 2008 in San Francisco.
I'm not from the US, so I've unlocked it in Belgium.
No problems so far, but since a couple of months I'm getting very bad reception. (1 bar, no service)
In an other phone (Nokia) the signal strength is very good. So simcard is ok.
Short discription of the problem:
When I'm outside and I can see a telecom mast, I have full signal strength.
Suppose there is a building between me and the mast, the signal drops to 2-3 bars.
And when I enter a building, the signal drops to 1 bar or no service.
I've contacted some repair shops in Belgium and Holland and they all said it either can be the antenna or the comm board that needs to be repaired.
I've looked up the prices for these parts and saw that the comm board is about 150 euro (EU).
I know a friend that goes to the US this saturday.
Does anybody know if they will repair my "broken" UNLOCKED iPhone?
It's no problem if I have to pay for it.
Can they test the issue that I'm having in Belgium in the US?
Do all apple stores repair iPhones?
What is the average waiting periode of a repair? (He will stay for 2 weeks)

I think you better buy an iphone 2G or 3G 2nd hand. It will probably be cheaper than let it repair. Look at Kapaza (I'm also from Belgium).
I don't think Apple repairs unlocked iPhones
