It's not in the settings, when I go to network data the tethering is gone, so with MMS. Any solutions?

This was a known issue with beta 5. When beta 5 pushed out, if you hadn't already updated your carrier.ipcc to enable tethering and MMS, it became much harder -- and most people who did had to re-upload the carrier.ipcc after the beta 5 drop. At present, if you've upgraded to iTunes 8.2, it's not easy to get your MMS and Tethering back on 3.0GM -- there's no jailbreak so you can't manually replace the .ipcc, and you can't shift-restore and apply an .ipcc in iTunes 8.2 because they've blocked the functionality.

Drop a google search on the topic, there are pages and pages of forums dedicated to it (and some of them are on this board, searching is your friend!)

mobileconfigs for many european iphone providers.

u just have to send your mobileconfig file to your iphone email account and install it out of the email.

u dont have to downgrade itunes or use 3rd party software. you can create your own mobileconfigs with the iphone configuration utility from apple.

I have tried using your site - and many other ways to get tethering working on my iPhone but no luck - all it does is fill in the three lines for passwords and account names ext.

It is an original EDGE iPhone on the 3.0 GM firmware.

Please if anyone knows how to enable the tethering on an original iPhone please let me know!

i'm using a 3g iphone running os 3.0gm and i use AT&T here in the US. I have the ver 5 ATT_US.ipcc file but i can't load it because i'm running itunes 8.2 final so i can only load ipsw files. I have the iphone config tool for windows but i've never used it. I have a friend with a BB Curve so i can do the sim card swap to have that phone associated with my account in order to (hopefully) activate the MMS capabilities on my account, but i need to load this ipcc file on first to even have the option on the device.

From what i've read 2 things need to be done in 3.0gm on AT&T. First you need to have the phone software activated to allow MMS (via the ipcc carrier file). Then you need to have your ATT account activated or rather "enabled" (or in this case tricked) into allowing you to actually send and recieve MMS.

Am i correct? and if so, can someone explain to me how to build a simple config file or even open a terminal in the iphone configuration tool where i can input what needs to be input to activate the MMS on the phone?

Tethering is not supported on the 1st gen iPhone, you need 3G or 3G S for that.

i've also come to realize that the ipcc file is actually just an archive.. i can view the plists in notepad and what not but i still don't know how to get them on the phone... anyone able to help?
