Or are we just using iTunes to install it?
I'm on a Mac at work that doesn't have my library, and I don't wanna sync with it.
Why do you think you need to sync it first? Make sure the carrier bundle is activated on the iTunes you want to connect your iphone to. Connect your phone to any iTunes 8.2 and option (shift) click on the update button. Select you ipcc file. Wait 2 sec. Disconnect the iPhone and restart it. No need to sync.

Hi, i've followed the instructions on this post and without luck, i still cant seem to see the camera beside my text box in messaging. I've already installed the patch from cydia, rebooted my iPhone(os 3.0 via red snow, 2G) checked the settings and entered the current info and then rebooted again but still the camera beside the messaging box won't show. I've also checked for the mms toggle button in the messaging app but there is none. Please advise.
Thanks in advanced for your help.

does not start up!
I have installed the patch from Cydia, and then pressed the "reboot phone" button. Now the phone is stuck on the Apple logo....
Any ideas what might have gone wrong and how to get out of it?
thank you.

You need the original iPhone (not 3G nor 3GS) and firmware 3.0.

I installed it on the original iPhone with Firmware 2.0 (didn't see the requirement for 3.0 in cydia).
Is there any way to start the phone now? When it hangs on the apple logo it is not accessible via SSH (wifi) or via iPhone browser.
Any way at all to avoid restoring and loosing everything?
Thanks.

Apple add the MMS feature just in 3.0. That's why you need an iPhone running that FW in order to install the patch. Also, is always good idea check threads/guides before running this kind of tools. If you check iClarified: "These are instructions on how to enable MMS capabilities on your iPhone 2G. You must be jailbroken on the 3.0 iPhone firmware to do this."
I'll do a restore. Best way to avoid more problems

Batter life after activatemms.
Ok. So I monitored my phone use today down to exact uses. 4 calls for a total of 12 minutes. No mms sent or received. 9 SMS. No wifi use. No browsing. No games played. No iPod use. After 11 hours I am at 15% battery life. I am going to uninstall and check battery life again with similiar useage and report back. I used to be able to get 3 days of battery with that kind of use.

Got it working.
Used the "TMobile_us_carrier_bundles" zip file (TMobile_us_carrier_bundles_1.0.3.zip - File Shared from Box.net - Free Online File Storage). I did not have to edit the file with pledit.exe. Did the Shift + Check for Updates within iTunes and chose "TMobile_us_postpaid.ipcc".
I had to send a couple mms's before it worked. Don't know why, but give it a few tries.
Just so everyone is on the same page, I have a 2G iPhone, upgraded to OS3.0, unlocked and jailbroken with RedSn0w. Used Cydia and installed ActivateMMS2G.
The settings within Cellular Data Network are (thanks to the ipcc file):
Cellular Data
APN internet2.voicestream.com
username blank
password blank
Visual Voicemail
APN internet2.voicestream.com
username blank
password blank
MMS
APN wap.voicestream.com
username blank
password blank
MMSC http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms.wapenc
MMS Proxy 216.155.165.50
MMS Max Message Size 1048576
MMS UA Prof URL http://www.apple.com/mms/uaprof.rdf
Battery life seems to be back to normal now that all of my settings are correct and everything is working.
Thanks to the various people who put all of the various parts together to make this work.
