Just Confused and could use some advice about switching to iphone
Hi there - I am a new user and wonder if there's anyone who can give me any advice on how to switch to the iphone 2G.
I have an LG phone and am on a family plan while I'm in college - I got an iphone from a friend and absolutely love it, but since I had another phone, I just used the iphone for wi-fi and a camera. My LG is breaking and I'm really wanting to use my iphone as my primary phone . . . the only problem is, I can't add a data plan (Or add any additional charges at all). I thought this would be as easy as taking the SIM card out of my old phone and putting it the iphone, but obviously I'm clueless about this stuff
If anyone can point me in a starting direction that would be fantastic -
I would really appreciate any advice you can give!

If the iPhone is unlocked.. IT IS simple as that indeed.
If you get no signal bars, or No Service, means that is either locked or broken.
Once you get service bars you should have the same basic services you had in your LG (mms/sms/edge/3g/etc)
On the iPhone go to: Settings > General> About and post
the Modem Firmware and Version so we can help you.
