I have a blackrain jailbroken 3g iphone that had the security code enabled. I was recently arrested and the cops seized my iphone illegally. Like I said, it was passworded, and I never gave them the password, but I KNOW that they have accessed my text messages and that they have not gotten any sort of info from ATT, so they had to have gotten it from my phone. We are going to court to prove the illegal seizure and I need to know if they are able to break through my password to access that info. I mean I KNOW anything can be done with the right software, but can it be easily done? is this something that needs like super high tech software (because they would need a separate warrant for that I assume). I just want to be as prepared as possible in court. thanks!

One does not need high tech software to do that.
A modified redsn0w could do it, if the phone had WiFi and openSSH on, even easier to do.

The most possible circumstance is that someone who knew what he was doing, with a jailbroken phone and something like iPhoneBrowser could modify the plist that houses the security code to remove it. There are a few forum posts around that discuss how to remove the security code -- it's definitely possible to do. I'm not 100% that they could remove it to get the data and then put it back on, but I'm pretty sure that's possible -- after all, it's just a plist and a couple files. I'm sure they could back them up, remove the password, investigate, then put the files back on. It does not require high tech software, you could do it yourself at home for free.

That said, I'm taking a pretty big leap by assuming that law enforcement in your town would have people with the software knowhow to complete this...
