Iphone issue
I searched here on Iphone 3.x seems like this one is a new issue. I have an iphone which I have been updating regularly. Right now I am on 3.0.1.
The iphone would be stuck after about 1.5 seconds from unlocking the phone (for normal usage). During this 1.5 seconds, I can do anything but i have to do it quickly. so if I want to send a text the sequence would be following.
1. Unlock phone.
2. slide to click on txt icon
3. click on txt icon.
4. Press the power button to get the iphone in lock again. (it would be stuck by now).
5. Unlock phone.
6. click on new message for txt.
7. Start typing. typing really quickly otherwise repeat 4+5 again to continue functioning of the iphone.
Anyone can help?

I assume that you have tried the standard troubleshooting techniques:
- Restore with either original apple 3.0.1 ipsw and jailbreak with redsn0w
- Set iphone up as new, do not restore from iTunes backup.

Ol,
I updated to 3.1.2 and I didn't get any option to set up when I jailbroke. (using blackrain)
I have to admit though, since I did this the battery life has gotten better and the sim unlock is back. Maybe I need to give it time and TLC.
So this seems to be semi-resolved. I still have to type superfast to be able to work around my iphone issue.

You should avoid "updating" or "upgrading" via iTunes when your iPhone is jailbroken. This leaves orphaned files from Cydia and the previous jailbreak. The option to "set up a phone as new" is only shown when you "restore" an iPhone with an ipsw.
