IPHONE 3G unlock/ upgrade help?
i have iphone 3g... w/ version 3.0.1 ... this is an unlocked phone running cydia...
this last week i tried to upload my songs from itunes and the itunes told me it " itunes can not read content iphone 3g... please do a factory restore on i phone.. etc" . and then on itunes gave me the only option for iphone update the official update from apple....
itunes running is 184.108.40.206
i dk what to do... can some give me a step by step instruction .. i would really appreciate it!
1: Upgrade to 3.1.2 (not 3.1.3) !!!! Don't ask why, just do it
2a. If you're running Windows ... update/jailbreak with Redsn0w. Tutorial:
iClarified - iPhone - How to Jailbreak Your iPhone 3G on OS 3.1.2, 3.1.3 Using RedSn0w (Windows)
---- or ----
2b: If you're running a Mac update/jailbreak with PwnageTool. Tutorial:
iClarified - iPhone - How to Jailbreak Your iPhone 3G on OS 3.1.3 Using PwnageTool (Mac)
- Note: in the above instructions, substitute 3.1.2 for 3.1.3.
Use Pwnage Tool (best), or Redsn0w (almost as good)!!
Don't use Purplerain, snowbreeze, green goblin, whitelightening, bluemango, or anything else!
Follow the instructions VERY carefully. Read, read, and read it again. It will work the 1st time. If you don't understand something --- DO NOT GUESS! Understand everything BEFORE you begin.
Once you're done, restore using the 3.0.1 backup you made at the beginning.
Then run Cydia, update essential, install ultrasn0w (for the carrier unlock).
if you use pwnagetool, install ultrasn0w for unlock, if you use redsn0w use blacksn0w for unlock

If you restore from the iTunes backup - and encounter any battery life or stability problems then I strongly suggest you perform the 3.1.2 restore/jailbreak again and set your iPhone up as new. This means you lose SMS and call history but it usually fixes any instabilities caused by restoring an iPhone backup taken from a jailbroken iPhone.
