Iphone 3G problem
Hello everybody, I have an Iphone 3G that I tried to jailbreak and unlock with redsnow, it jailbreaks just fine but I can't unlock it, later I used blackra1n to jailbreak and unlock but when I try to use the wifi on my phone it doesn't connect to the internet, not youtube etc. How can I jailbreak and unlock it? please help with this.
Versio: 3.1.2
Modem firmware: 05.11.07

You definitely do not want to use blackra1n, it's very hacky and causes quite a few problems. Your best bet is to restore back to a custom 3.1.2 from PwnageTool if your phone already has a pwned LLB. If not, restore to stock 3.1.2 and use redsn0w 0.9.2 or 0.9.3 to jailbreak it. From there, use ultrasn0w to unlock. Do not use blackra1n for the unlock, it will not work (or if it does, it will barely work, and can boot loop your phone, or bring back a very old race condition that you don't want to deal with).

Hello n1ckn4m3, I restored with itunes to 3.1.2 and then used redsn0w 0.9.3 to jailbreak but I still can't connect via wifi, I can't open web pages on safari, it just shows a darkened safari window with "Connecting" and thats it, I can't connect to youtube either, appears a window with "Cannot connect to YouTube", I didn't get an error message when I did the jailbreak with redsn0w, what could it be wrong with this phone???

When you go into the phone's network settings / about, do you see a blank IMEI and WiFi address? What baseband revision are you on?

Did you use redsn0w to hacktivate your iOS or did you use SAM to generate legitimate push and activation tokens?

Hello n1ckn4m3, Sorry for the delay, happy new year BTW, I used redsn0w to hacktivate, but I bought the phone used, so I don't really know if somebody used something different before, I just restored with itunes and hacktivate with redsn0w again, before I used redsn0w I could access the internet and youtube just fine but now I just can't.

hacktivation can cause issues with WiFi among other things (push certificates, Facetime/iMessage but that's primarily on iOS 4.0/5.0).
Here's what I recommend:
1) Download SAM, Subscriber Artificial Module (google it, you can't miss it.)
2) Use SAM to revert your lockdownd to stock.
3) Use SAM to specify your carrier and the specific information requested about your carrier.
4) Plug phone into iTunes to activate.
When that's done, reboot the phone and check.
If it still doesn't work, you may want to move to a newer iOS revision, as the tools for 3.x are somewhat outdated, and 3.x was also the period when we had a few competing jailbreaks that caused problems to each other (race condition on 3.x with earlier blackra1n / blacksn0w, etc.). 4.2.1 is supported on that device and though iOS 4 is a little slow on the 3G, it's not too terribly bad.

The problem with this is that I can't install anything trough cydia because of the wifi problem, or is there something that I misunderstanding?
Do I upgrade to 4.2.1 and jailbreak and unlock again to see if the problems are gone?
Sorry, I'm not an expert
