I have not Jailbroken my iphone as of yet and I really don't need service because I moved to a different country and just got a new phone. However I use my iphone for a lot (ipod etc) and I want to actually be ABLE to use it.

ever since the 3.1 update EVERY TIME i plug my iphone into ANY pc its just a matter of time before it freezes up and reboots itself (the spinning circle on the iphone comes up and it locks up and vibrates then I have to reboot it manually or it sometimes randomly does it itself)

This is an issue because I can't do ANYTHING to it. I can't add music, let alone try to a attempt a jailbreak (its a race against when the iphone freezes haha). I gave up on apple fixing this problem becuase 3.1.2 did not fix anything. I attempted a full factory restore and nothing helped. I am pretty sure I have the new baseband because when I try to run blackra1n it pops up itunes in restore mode. I tried to "double run it" yet it did not work at all either (just crashes blackra1n) I run on Mac OSX 10.4.11 and I also have a windows 7 pc. my iphone is 3.1.2 with the new 5.11 baseband(i don't need to unlock I just want to jailbreak and or FIX my iphone so i can at least add music to the thing)

Seeing as how the firmware from apple is not fixing it I was curious if somehow anyone could help me find a way to run pwnagetool on it and install a custom firmware. However the problem is after re-installing the firmware via apple restore it actually is WORSE then before. it happens very quickly that it crashes the iphone.

Any help would be appreciated. I will gladly give more information if needed just I don't know what someone might need. I have tried searching all around on the internet for answers but no one seems to have my exact problem (i have no podcasts, it doesn't auto sync, blah blah blah)

Is this a 3GS iPhone?

You may have a legitimate hardware problem, it is still under warranty (in the original country of purchase that is) so get it replaced.

Actually its just a 3g and its not under warranty any more (past one year). Unfortunately i bought it in the US and now I live in japan. However I was able to finally fix the problem.
What i did was delete all the old ipsw itunes was keeping on file, change PCs, do a restore and delete and lose everything. So far no freezing and I am able to add files to it.

Now I just want to find out how to do a jailbreak so i can enjoy my little iphone better haha.

I actually think it might have been a corruption in a photo file. because my iphone was unable to be detected as a camera on a PC (the way you pull pictures off it to windows based systems) I am curious if it will crash again if I take a picture and then try to connect it to my pc...if so I will post about it.
