    Question

    Hi Guys!

    UK O2 iPhone user here.

Been reading this thread from start to finish, with some interest. I'd love to upgrade to 3.0 so I can test the FW with the Citrix Receiver client for our farm (business user).

Would anybody be kind enough to add my device to their dev account for a short period so I can begin testing the FW? I can't really risk going it alone, as I need my device in tact for work.

    Cheers guys

How's Spotlight? Looking forward to finally being able to search my pigging mailbox!

kk, which is better to do if u are already on beta 5 jailbroken?
    1) DFU your device into recovery mode, then shift click restore to 7A341? or
    2) shift click check for update to simply update to 7A341?
I have ipod touch 1G and looking for the "Best and Fastest Possible Performance out of 3.0", and so far i'm dissapointed in it cause Vans Sk8te app STILL doesn't run on 3.0.....
( i'm assuming that deleting entirely everything after being jailbroken will make it faster, but then again doesn't simple update takes u through pink itunes recovery mode anyways?...)

Has anyone meet problems with bluetooth?
My 3G with 3.0 GM couldn't finish searching for bluetooth devices. That kills battery very fast.
And bluetooth generally doesn't work. I can pair device, but couldn't use is at all (when I'm trying to use network from my mac through iPhone it says that iPhone out of range). And I couldn't connect from iPhone to any of my Macs (wanted to test A2DP streaming). WTF, that is final version!

What version of iTunes are you running? As far as I know, Apple have removed the ability to alt-click to choose a custom restore file. You may need to grab yourself a copy of iTunes 8.2b7 (10) - that's what I have done.

With that, number two should be fine - although you may lose your jailbreak. However, I presume it'd be pretty easy to re-jailbreak the device if you can do it on beta 5.

Deleting everything probably would make it faster in the short term. The pink iTunes page is easily solvable - you just need to reboot your device while it is plugged in and iTunes is open.

My 3G iPhone running 3.0GM can find my MacBook fine. I'm pairing it right now and tethering over bluetooth. I've never had that error .. but have you tried simply moving it closer to the Mac?

It is 10cm from both my Mac's..
    1) When I'm in Bluetooth pereferences it shows both of my macs (paired before from Macs), but search animation never stops. And if I tap on any mac name it tries to connect but after that stops without any error message. status is still "Not Connected"
    2) If I'm trying to use network from my iMac it shows message "The Bluetooth network is unavailable. There was a problem connecting your device. Make sure the devices are on, in range, paired correctly, and services such as Bluetooth tethering are set up properly.
    3) Macbook says when I'm trying to use network: "Bluetooth network failed. Failed to open a connection to the network service. Your device may have reached its maximum number of supported network connections.".

BTW, I didn't set up tethering, coz I didn't find this settings on the phone. I just switched on bluetooth.

    Chiming in from o2-UK.
A successful update to 3.0 from 2.2.1 using the latest iTunes and Mac Leopard. Just follow the normal procedure to restore to the .ipsw that is posted here. I have never had a dev account registered before so turned off the Internet just to make sure up until the point that I had to activate with iTunes.
Although I can't be held responsible if it doesn't work for you, it does prove that it is possible to update without an account. Thanks for the links!

I've experienced a few of those errors too. To fix it, I re-paired the devices by forgetting them both (on the MacBook and on the iPhone) - the new pair code was correct and everything was working fine. From my bluetooth settings on the mac, I selected "Kyle's iPhone" and hit "Connect to network" and it works fine. Try a re-pair!
