Can someone comment on syncing? It would take at least 15 minutes for my phone to sync with beta 1

I am not a Dev - but I have done 2 3G iPhones in the last 24hrs - no problems apart from Optus MMS not working - I am on a MacPro

I have had no problems in syncing - read my earlier post either in 3.0b1 or more recently in 3.0b2

Well, if you didn't have probs in 3.0b1 then whether it works for you or not may not be helpful for me. I may give it a shot though considering I can jailbreak and back up stuff

I can't get the Update button, only Restore, on my iTunes 8.1 with iPhone 3.0a on Windows XP. To go to 3.0b, only Shift+RESTORE can work.
My assumption: Shift+Restore = RESTORE. Correct me if i'm wrong, please.
YEs, what "shift" add is the ability to select the IPSW, so it's implied. The important here is the distinction of UPDATE and RESTORE.

Is there anyone willing to give away or sell a dev spot? Jailbroke 3.0 on my iPhone 3G, but can't get service. I am willing to pay to get a dev spot.

Can't give you mine, but if I were you, I would look on ebay if you want to buy this kind of service.

For those that get a purple screen after updating, you should try closing Itunes and reopening it. That fixed the issue for me. Itunes recognized the phone for activating after that

Activae 3.0 Beta without Registering as apple Dev(My tricky way)
iUtilites.. google it (With iUtilities, I managed to change system version to 2.2 after Jailbreak OS 3.0beta2
zSHARE - iUtilities.rar
Follow these Steps :
1-Update to 3.0 iphone 3G or even restore
2-Use Quickpwn 3.0 Beta and select Jailbreak ONLY. when finished the phone will be jailbroken and screen is in pink color waiting for activation ..close iTunes.
3-Open iUtilites if some error show or ask for any thing iqnore it and select (String Editor) a new windo will open then look for the CHANGE SYSTEM VERSION..CHANGE it to 2.2 and Type in the space Below it 5G77 buid 5G77 click ok... restart iPhone and your system version is now changed in iPhone to 2.2
4-Connect to iTunes and activate.iTunes will activate any version below 3.0 for non DEV as long as you have inserted the correct sim card.
5-back to iUtilities and redo process by typing the correct version for 3.0 build 7A25g then restart.
Do a fresh update or restore >>
This process fake iTunes and activated iPhone as if it was 2.2 and You will have a full fuction 3.0 Beta without beeing an Apple Dev....

Upgrade from 2.2.1 to 3.0B2 went without a hitch -- No SDK installed. Restored, purple screen, waited 15 seconds, iTunes activated it, pulled from a backup (I don't care about YouTube.), sync'd right up.
3.0 Beta 2 still exhibits the behavior where after a sync, iTunes goes out to lunch for x amount of time, x being related to the number of items in the library on the device. The more items, the longer it goes out to lunch. With 2,108 songs and 15 videos, mine takes approximately 37 minutes after pushing all of the data to finalize the sync and update the Library on the device.
Haven't yet tested to see if purchasing from iTunes on the phone will cause iPod.app to crash until a sync is completed, but I'll find out shortly and post an update.
Aside from that, generally seems more responsive. Still (of course) has the 'if you restored, your YouTube won't work' glitch.
Verdict is still out on my battery life issue, will post updates as events warrant.
