So my wife has an iphone for a little over a year. I unlocked hers, like i did mine, but she didn't want all the updates as often as I did so its hard to remember exactly what I did. I think i unlocked hers twice and got as high as 1.1.4.
1 year later and she really wanted 3.0 so she just did an apple update from itunes. The phone works fine, but any non-standard app wont work. It starts to open, but then goes right back to the dashboard. I'm not sure she needs the jailbreak or unlock anymore, but would like her phone up and running like it should with app support.

I'm not certain what to do at this point and dont want to make things worse. She would like to stay on 3.0 but I'm willing to do what I need to to get it back up 100%. Is there an easy way to correct this? A virginize program? Do I need to jailbreak/unlock and if so which version given my situation. Thanks in advance. Currently her specs are:

Version 3.0
firmware 04.05.04_G

When you mention"any non standart app"you mean every other app besides mail.app,sms.app etc or just the apps you installed via cydia?The appstore apps are working?
If we re talking about the cydia ones,it sounds like a persmissions problem(stange though since all the apps seem to have it).
If this isnt the case,why dont you try a restore to 3.0 firmware?Unlock and jailbreak is quite easy with the latest redsn0w,i m guessing you know it.

Sorry about the spelling, I meant non standard app. Meaning, only apple included OS apps like Calendar, Messages, Maps, etc. But NOT itunes store apps. Since she upgraded using itunes, her phone isn't jailbroken or unlocked. I wanted to ask here before trying to unlock again. I know how to use Redsnow, but since we didn't virginize her old OS 1.1.4 before applying 3.0 I want to see what I should do to correct her problems before trying redsnow and potentially making it worse. So there are no cydia apps installed at this time.

Sounds like a restore is needed.Dont worry about something going worse.
Since its a software related problem you can do no permanent harm to your 2G.
I d recommend you take a back up and start with a restore to 3.0
