iphone 2g Getting of while it is in sleep mode..!Read more..! hello, I have a ip
hello,
I have a iphone 2g which is getting off in sleep mode,if i keep connect to pc or plugged into charger it is working fine.
i did restore numerous times with 3.0 ,3.1.2, 3.1.3.I upgraded and downgraded also from 3.1.3 to 3.0 and vice versa but didn't help me.I used redsnow {0.9.4} for jailbreak and unlock.
I found a trick of altering power management settings (Winscp => accessing root directory)but that causes battery drain in 2 to 3 hours. So i restore back and now it is again getting off in sleep mode.
I tried custom firmwares also, that also didn't help me at all.
I want to know is it hardware or software? If anyone has had face this issue and have rectified it please post your solution here.
All i-phone guru's dive into solve the above stated issue.
Wbr,

Re: iphone 2g Getting of while it is in sleep mode.
I assume you are refering to sleeping while you are actively using it.
Need more info on this problem
Turn on syslog (there is a sbsettings toggle for this) post on pastebin.com a syslog from a period when it sleeps unexpectedly. Then link to that in this thread and also try on irc - more gurus hang out there.

My i-phone is working fine until doesn't go into sleep mode.I meant if i use i-phone for an hour without letting it go into sleep mode it works fine. But when i just let it for a while say 2 minutes and it goes into sleep mode it goes shut off.
If i keep plugged in charger and connect it to pc for data transfer or charging it doesn't shut off even in sleep mode.
Only problem is that when it is idle and goes into sleep mode it goes off.I have to power on the device again every time after sleep mode.
Regards.

syslog will still help identify why. This sounds like a hardware problem though

I have the same symptoms and everywhere other posters report this case I can't find any solution.
Setting auto-lock to NEVER is not a long-term solution. What did you do in the end ?
I'm currently on an iPhone 2G 16GB, with IOS 3.1.2. Multiple restores, hardware resets and two battery changes.
PS: Even tried Android on iphone which kinda made IOS work for a few days.

As Olethros asked the OP, download the Syslog SBSettings toggle and and enable it, then let the phone sleep and turn itself off. When you turn back on, you should have a syslog created in /var/log/syslog. This will include a lot of the useful information needed to troubleshoot.
