iPhone 2G Deadstrip 3.1.3
Hey ,
I have a low dead strip on my iPhone and i know that it is a hardware-problem.
So i want to ask you , if i can do a hack , or install a patch or something , to "cut" the 5 mm from the bottom , out of the usage.
Sorry, my english is really bad , but i only found this hack forum for iPhones on the internet .
So i hope you could understand me.

I think you didnt understand me. I wanted to say with "cut" ,to let the 5 mm on the bottom of the screen stay black , so the screen ends 5 mm upper the end of the touchscreen , so its out of usage . that means , that the screen will be a little bit smaller , but the 5 mm at the bottom will still be there , but not for usage.

A chainsaw would do.
Seriously now, let me see if I got it correctly. An application calls (say) getScreenGeometry and gets the following answer from the (say) system framework: 320 x (480 - 10). Right?
That might or might not be doable, depending on many factors. Also, I've seen many (badly written) apps with hardcoded dimensions. A smart app would take the queried dimensions into account and draw itself accordingly.
An alternative would be to let the app use whatever dimensions it wants and then scale down the entire 320x480 screen blit to 320x(480 - 10). That is not just hard, it's almost sci-fi.
