So, to clarify
If it gets into a non-bootable mode, I should just be able to ssh to it, rm the files I added and mv the bak's into place, then reboot? =P

Sorry, your original message was not overly clear.
If it doesn't work (but to be fair, 40+ downloads and no-one has bitched yet, plus Im relatively happy with my IDA skills..anyway) then you will have to restore your phone.

cydia?
Hey, great job on this! now do I need cydia for this on my iPhone? because I only have mine unlocked, not jailbroken, but I can install cydia if it's necessary. And if it is, I have to install openSSH to change all the codes, right?

After some testing tomorrow then yes it will be in Cydia, for the time being this is only for the techy and the brave (preferably both).

Did you have MMS working previously on 3.0 ?
If so, would you be able to post a syslog output from trying to send an MMS ?

Depends on your tariff and correct APN settings - this patch just enables the MMS ability, it wont magically add MMS to your account if you don't have it I am afraid

Thanks Whiterat. Unfortunately, AT&T doesn't specifically offer an "MMS" package for the iPhone 2G. This is part of a family plan, consisting of my 3GS, my wife's 3G, and my daughter's 2G (and all are JB). MMS is working fine on the 3GS and 3G. I have heard of many AT&T 2G users that were using activatemms2g successfully, before AT&T "turned on" MMS, but have not heard of any AT&T 2G users being able to use MMS since. AT&T obviously did something that affected the 2G users, and I didn't know if it was some configuration change pushed to the 2G with FW 3.1 that this "patch" will correct.
If anyone gets this working on AT&T, please post so others will know, as well as what you did to get it working.

Well, I'm gonna try to download a 3.1.2 ipsw and compare the md5 of its CommCenter to my phone one. If it's the same, I'm patching. If not... I'll restore when I have time for it lol.
EDIT: By restore I mean update.

Thank you!
But one last question, I don't want to bother you asking you non-techsabby questions, but what exactly is CommCenter, and how would you install that on the phone? I'm really good with hacking iPhones but CommCenter seems VERY new and unfamiliar to me. Thanks again for your awesome hack!

From what I'm aware, CommCenter is what controls the baseband. (Phone, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth)

yes i was using it mms2g on firmware 3.0 using the same setting as i used before..
Edit:
@Whiterat
check ur PM for the syslog
