Same problem here with the battery drain. Thing is.. if it drained a bit more then normal it would be fine with me, but its ALOT. I got same drain as previous posters. Normal is 2-3% over night.. now its like 25% of total battery capasity.

Thanks alot for the effort people put into this, once the battery-drain problem is solved this tweak would be a must have for pretty much all 2g users. Keep it up

Battery Drain issue here as well. I am using the latest patch. Everything works great except the battery drain kills this patch.

Post General Help, Get your MMS APN to Stick!

Hello all, it's great to see some progress in MMS on 2G.

Getting your MMS APN to stick is real easy, thanks to us KIWI's Note this is to be done after applying the patch provided in this forum and after restarting your iPhone. You won't need to edit M68AP.plist.

This guide has been made for all levels so please don't be offended if it seems over simplified.

Just visit Unlockit - APN Changer for your iPhone on your iPhone. Choose Continue --- Custom APN. Turn V3 Tethering + MMS On, Yes you get tethering Now type in your MMS APN in the APN field. Often this is just mms.

Be aware that the presets provided are for your carriers Cellular Data APN, not the MMS APN which often differs.

Now choose Create Profile and then select Install --- Install Now.

Now exit Safari and open Settings. Go to General --- Network --- Cellular Data Network. From here enter your Cellular Data APN (often just "internet"). Now enter the MMSC and the MMS Proxy. You can obtain all these setting via your providers website, phone support or Google.

    For example 2Degrees NZ:
    2degrees - Mobile settings

With the information provided at the above website my settings would look like the following under MMS(if I had the patch installed):

    APN: mms

    MMSC: http://mms.2degreesmobile.net.nz:48090

    MMS Proxy: 118.148.1.118:8080

It's unfortunate to see the battery issue still remains, this literally cuts the battery to one third of it's normal life span! Has anyone tried removing com.apple.apsd.plist? This disables push notifications and resides in your /System/Library/LaunchDaemons folder.

EDIT: Installed patch, works on 3.1.0. Removed com.apple.apsd.plist and will update as to whether this will resolve the battery issue.

EDIT: The battery fix has no effect at all in prolonging battery life. While on standby it doesn't reduce as quick as it would. However during use it flattens extremely quick! There is still only a maximum of 24hrs use.

I don't recommend installing this patch as it is.

I do not recommend to use mobileconfig files - this is discussed in many places here.
If you are not on a legit iPhone contarct, use custom carrier bundles, built for your carrier including all settings. Check here:
    http://www.hackint0sh.org/f127/78031.htm
When using mobileconfigs on an iPhone without a legit contract, the unknown carrier bundle ist used - it is made for roaming situations.

If you are on a legit contract, get "your" Apple carrier bundle and modify it to meet your needs.

Keep my fingers crossed for you guys finding out about the battery issue.

    just my 2 cent.

I still have the battery issue after removing the plist file. (rebooted after removing the file)

I lost 20% in 5 hours & the iPhone was almost always in standby. Removed the MMS patch again...

Removal of apsd.plist file should reduce, but not eliminate the battery drain issue.

Yes you're correct, after 7.5 hours standby it has drained 13%. Previously it would have been about 30%. It still has an acceptable battery charge life unlike before. It would be nice to see this fixed though.
