Yesterday I was able to update my firmware to the GM version in my unlocked 2G iPhones.
I can make a summary of the features I can find in the 2G:

Works:
- Copy & Paste: Works great!!!
- Spotlight
- Landscape mode
- Voice Memos

Doesn't Work
- My Location: Google Maps can't find My Location (Any ideas??????)
- YouTube
- Find My Phone: Because of My Location problem

Feedback is welcome!!

My first guess was going to be that since the 2g iPhone uses cell phone triangulation that it might not work for location on non-approved carriers since Apple would not have that data. But then I realized that it did work pre 3.0, so I have no idea.

My location feature works fine here (Belgium and The Netherlands)

I live in Ft. Lauderdale, FL... my upgrade to 3.0 on my 1st gen ATT phone went without a hitch and runs perfectly. Seems peppier but always seems like that after a fresh restore.

Location feature works great... great because seems to pinpoint even better than before. In N. Lauderdale and where I work in West Palm the dot was basically on top of me instead of 1/4 off.

No problem playing from youtube either. I'd hard reset the phone and restore again... it happens.

So are you saying that Youtube didn't work at the first 3.0 GM update?

No... I am saying that the upgrade for me was perfect and everything is working including youtube.

I was saying you should reset the phone and then just do another restore... it happens and restoring it again helps.

I really would like to...but I think I will lose my activation (not the official one)...or is there a way to restore keeping the activation?

Youtube works for you because you are using an official carrier: AT&T.

I believe those who are having problem with youtube in 3.0 are on non-official carriers.

both google and utube fine on my 2g on o2 with GM

I have the same problem.

After the update to 3.0GM no more YouTube or location services.

It worked perfectly on 2.2.1 and older.
